Purpose The following Fall Protection Plan is prepared for the prevention of injuries to our employees associated with falls. A Fall Protection Plan must be developed and evaluated on a site-by-site basis.

Scope and Application Merritt is dedicated to the protection of our employees from on-the-job injuries. All employees have the responsibility to work safely on the job. The purpose of this plan is to provide safety standards specifically designed to cover fall protection on all of our jobs and to ensure that each employee is trained and made aware of the safety provisions which are to be implemented by this plan prior to the start work. This section addresses the use of conventional fall protection, as well as, identifies specific activities that require non-conventional means of fall protection. These areas include: a. Connecting activity (point of erection) b. Leading edge work c. Unprotected sides or edges d. Grouting Fall Protection Systems Only the company designated person (s) and the immediate supervisor can make decisions on the proper fall protection system to be used for any specific application. Fall protection systems will only be utilized after careful consideration and task/project review. Covers All hole and wall cover must be secured to prevent accidental displacement. • Covers will be color-coded or bear the markings “HOLE” or “COVER”. • Covers must be able to support twice the weight of employees, equipment, and materials that might cross them. • Covers located in roadways must be able to support twice the axle load of the largest vehicle that might cross them.
